Residents and small businesses can drop off hazardous waste to the Hartford Community Center for Recycling and Waste Management on Route 5 in White River Junction. There’s no charge for residents and businesses must pre-register and will be charged direct disposal costs. Due to grant funding through the Vermont Department of Agriculture pesticide disposal is free. For questions or more information visit www.uvhhw.org

On Saturdays from 9 a.m.–1 p.m. from May through October the Norwich Farmers Market features 50 vendors offering seasonal produce and other agricultural products, prepared foods, and crafts. Early May agricultural products will include spring greens, radishes, wild leeks, fiddleheads, sprouts, popcorn, and dried beans. Gardeners can look for perennials, bedding plants, and vegetable and herb plants. Other agricultural products available at the market throughout the 6-month season include eggs, beef, pork, elk, chicken, many types of cheese, honey, and maple.

Quechee Library Fundraiser |

On Friday July 10th come to the “Play One for the Books” Quechee Library fundraiser being held at the Quechee Club. This nine-hole golf scramble will take place at 3:30 p.m. After the golf scramble there will be a dinner, a raffle, and a silent auction. Items for the raffle and silent auction include: Red Sox tickets, New York Giants football tickets, quilts, and decorated handmade benches. There will also be gift certificates to local restaurants and other establishments.
The event is open to Quechee members, their guests, and the community. Please call the Quechee Library at 802-295-1232 or the Quechee Golf Shop at 802-295-6245 for reservations and cost. If you’re interested in donating an item to the raffle or silent auction, or would like to volunteer please call the library.

The Quechee Lakes Landowners Association (QLLA) Community Affairs Committee is preparing a draft for a history book commemorating the 40th anniversary of QLLA in 2010. Anyone having stories, news articles, and especially pictures of interest is encouraged to get in touch with Sharon Taylor at 802-295-6718, or items can be dropped off at the QLLA Office.
