qtsum09web_03_0005"What an amazing place,” I said to myself the first time I passed through Quechee. I can remember I was visiting the area with our Town Manager, Hunter Rieseberg, when we came upon the polo field, we continued to the Strong House Spa, then came the Quechee Inn at Marshland Farm, a sparkling river was to our left and Hunter said to me “that is the Ottauquechee!” I remember thinking that was what?? And how do you say that again?!? I was immediately captivated by the local architecture. I could see evidence from our past settlers that freckled Quechee Main Street. I was working for Hunter and he was taking me on a tour through the Town of Hartford’s five villages so I would know where they were when people stopped into the town offices. I must admit, Quechee was my favorite village on our tour. We passed the Quechee covered bridge, Simon Pearce, then proceeded to the clubhouse and I could not believe that I had been down Route 4 so many times and did not know that this little piece of paradise was just a short drive down Waterman Hill Road. It gave me a little chuckle when I thought to myself over the river and through the bridge to Quechee Lakes we go….

Well, that visit to the village certainly made an imprint in my mind. I visited the area as much as possible and started to look for housing in the area while still working for the town. That is where I met James Monahan, Michael Maynard & Michael Guiliano, the Boston based partnership (Lateran Partners or MM Company) who were working on acquiring the Quechee Lakes community and had a plan to revive homeownership here in Quechee and market the wonderful area that I call home today. They offered me a job at Quechee Lakes Development Company and I was delighted to accept—where else can you talk about such an awesome place to live and sell such a wonderful community— I was thinking to myself, well I believe in what I am selling… so for me, this is a no brainer! Today it has been approximately 9 years since I have been employed in Quechee.

I have lived in Quechee as a renter, then I became a homeowner, and now I am back to the area as a renter again. It seems I cannot get enough of the village, it’s a unique blend of people from so many different areas of the world and I love having the chance to get to know as many people as possible and hearing about their life experiences. It’s a small town and it is a place you want to go where everyone knows your name!
